2011?

What happened to it?  I can’t believe I didn’t write one blog post on here in all that year!  However to show that it wasn’t a totally wasted year here are a few of the things I made :)

As I’m on a roll

I think these cards are quite sweet and I’m able to do them quickly enough that I don’t get bored!  This is really a pink day…

This little piggy went to market…

And he had a lovely time!  Trying to decide what I can do with lots of pink/red buttons at the moment.

Now what I need is a cardboard template so I can make more I think!

Autumn colours

Well it seems that autumn is definitely here.  Between the wind and rain we are still getting some sunny patches but the nip in the air is appearing when you least expect it!  So some autumn embroidery to enjoy.  My only annoyance is that I’ve gone a bit close to the stitching when making the edges, but I’m sure I can make sure I don’t do that next time!

Heart for Cherri

As you suggested :)

Embroidered cards

I have finally done something!  Well I’ve been doing little bits here and there but nothing that has actually got finished.  So today after finding a scrap of material I decided to do some embroidery and make something.  My plan is to make some different designs, stick them onto a piece of card and then write any greeting on the back.  If anyone wants to frame them then they can do :)

Oh and it was also helped by finding a fabric pen that vanishes in the shop yesterday which I had been searching for.  Very useful!

Ideas for new cards and comments most welcome :)

Winter project

I went to the recycling yard today (or the recycling dump as my children say) to find a TV we could use.  Didn’t find a TV but instead came home with two wrought iron and wood slat chairs and a bench/table!  Was fun trying to fit them into my car but I persevered and just about managed it and got them home.

So this is a winter project.  I want to give it a very good clean and then paint.  At the moment I’m thinking about black with green for the leaves and possibly another colour for the swirls down the side of the chairs.  Depends on what colours are available to use.  I also think that the slats will need replacing although I have sat on them and they didn’t break under the weight which is a bonus!

The chair, it’s fairly wide but not a double one like you usually see.

The edge of the chair.  I think those bits picked out in a different colour will look nice.

The bottom bit of the chair.  It’s a lovely design.

The bench/table.  I think it’s possibly a bench but I don’t see why you can’t use it as a small table.

Bit of this, bit of that!

Finally found the small camera today so thought I’d show you what I’ve been up to.

In Dinan we found a craft shop and they had these pre-cut felt shapes with holes in the top.  So I bought these flowers/snowflakes and some teddy bears in cream as well.  I’ve had great fun decorating them and just need to find out what they’re called now so I can get some more.

One of the other things I’ve been doing is hand embroidering, however with normal sewing thread rather than embroidery thread which has been interesting.  This one is for Ben (obviously) and I think will probably go on a book/shoe bag.  The design is mine as well, the bee I drew for a card a few years ago so thought I’d use him for this (as you can just about see the pencil marks are still there!).

And finally something I finished tonight *copied from Facebook* I bought what I thought was a tablecloth and turned out to be a large pillowcase from Noz in France, so I’ve just sewn the pretty bits together by hand (sewing machine not set up at the moment) and attached with ribbon. Looks quite pretty and rustic I think. */copied from Facebook*  This is currently pinned to a shelving unit between my study and the kitchen.  Not sure where it’ll end up though but it does fit quite nicely there so may stay.  It does look huge but I think it’s only about a foot or so.

And that is it for now!  It was nice to do some sewing this evening as it’s all been a bit manic since we’ve been back of holiday and not much time just to sit and sew.  My next job now is to set the sewing machine back up, I still have a few purses I want to make :)

Where has the summer gone?

Blink and you’ll miss it, I blinked…

The summer holidays are nearly over for another year and as usual they have flown by in a mist of holiday, children playing and just general every day stuff.  The weather seems to be closing in a lot quicker than I thought it would, might be time now to get out my knitting again and finish off the jumpers I am making so they are ready to be worn!

Time to sit back and reflect on the summer.  Not that I hope it is over though, would be nice to have some more sunny days before it gets too cold!

Oh and the bag went down very well with my mum for her present :)

And it’s finished!

I finally managed to make the bag I’ve been meaning to do for the past week.  It’s been difficult as I’ve had a problem with the sizing but I’m happy with how it’s turned out.  It’s supposed to be for Bridge papers etc so I’ve also put a new pack of cards in :)

And these are my curtains that I’m very pleased with.  Cuts out the light more than the others however you now get a reddish glow in the lounge during the day!
